Publisher Assouline expands into library accessories, featuring finely crafted decor & fragrances

Library-inspired candles and diffusers in amber glass capture the essence of wood, leather-bound books, and smoky tobacco.

Paris-based luxury brand Assouline, renowned for its sophisticated coffee table books and lifestyle products, has launched a new range of home accessories, The Library Collection. It is a range of objects and home fragrances designed to complement Assouline’s publishing universe. Focused on both form and function, the new line blends Assouline’s design sensibility with a curated approach to everyday living.

Assouline The Library Collection

For this debut, Assouline teamed up with French designer Pierre Favresse – previously Creative Director for Lladro – to create The Essentials—a selection of pieces intended to build the perfect library. The collection includes bookends, bookstands, trinket boxes, a tray, a photo frame, a backgammon set, an hourglass, and a magnifying glass. Each item is made using rich materials like walnut wood, pebbled leather, and brushed brass, and comes in signature Assouline tones of red, camel, and brown. The design is inspired by some of the Assouline family’s most treasured possessions.

The brand also introduced a home fragrance line to complete the atmosphere. The range features candles and diffusers in amber glass vessels, made to evoke the feel of a private, personal library. Notes of wood, leather, and smoky tobacco are layered into the scents, meant to mirror the calm, collected energy of timeless reading spaces.

The collection is based on the idea that a library isn’t just about books; it’s the objects that add meaning and intention to the space.

Assouline The Library Collection

Among the standout items is the Collector Bookstand, crafted from walnut wood and wrapped in pebbled leather. Resting on a brushed brass base and available in two sizes, it’s designed to elevate any book into a display-worthy piece. The Culture Bookstand is slightly more understated but equally intentional. Its tilted design highlights the book at just the right angle.

Assouline also introduced three types of bookends. The Library Bookends resemble a stack of rare books, shaped from walnut wood with brass accents for a balanced, sculptural feel. The Cubist Bookends, sold individually, lean into a more abstract, art-forward look, with curved lines and pebbled leather finishes. The Twist Bookends, designed by Prosper Assouline, take on the classic plinth shape but add a sculptural twist, available in both walnut and brass.

The Backgammon Set brings a classic game into the Assouline world. Designed with walnut wood, inlaid leather, and brass-accented pieces, it doubles as a statement piece and a fully functional set for casual play.

For smaller items, the Pebble Trinket Boxes and Pebble Accessory Tray offer storage with style. The boxes come in three shapes and colors, finished with suede interiors and a brass rock-shaped handle. The tray, made from red pebbled leather and walnut wood, includes a matching brass accent piece that magnetically attaches for organization.

The Mirage Hourglass measures one hour with a glass center wrapped in leather, more than decoration, it’s a nod to time as a design element. The Archival Magnifying Glass, a daily-use tool in the Assouline family, is finished in red leather and brass for a touch of utility and polish.

The Heritage Frame brings the same care to photo display. With a leather and walnut body, suede interior, and magnetic closure, it holds photographs at a gentle angle and is made to last over time.

The home fragrance collection builds on this atmosphere. The Culture Lounge Candle blends lemon, aged rum, vanilla, musk, and sandalwood. The Paper Candle pairs cedar and sandalwood with hints of clove and vanilla to capture the feeling of flipping through a favorite book. The Leather Candle brings together amber, vetiver, and musk to evoke worn leather-bound volumes. The Wood Candle nods to historic libraries with dark amber, cedar, guaiac, and sandalwood. And the Cigar Candle mixes cedar, clove, patchouli, and tonka bean to recall the warmth of a refined reading room.

With The Library Collection, Assouline expands its focus from books to the environment around them, bringing together design, function, and atmosphere in a way that complements its publishing vision.
