Swiss watchmaker De Bethune has introduced the DB Kind of Two GMT Season 3, the latest edition in its collaboration with American artist and music producer Swizz Beatz. Limited to just 10 pieces, this dual-faced timepiece combines advanced engineering with a distinctive aesthetic, allowing wearers to switch between two independent dials with a precise flipping motion.
The partnership began in 2020 when Swizz Beatz challenged De Bethune’s founder and master watchmaker Denis Flageolletall with a vision centered on transparency and light. The DW5 model was the first result, featuring an avant-garde design with sapphire crystal elements and a blued titanium exoskeleton. This was followed by Season 2’s DBD model, which showcased an art deco-inspired digital display. Now, with Season 3, the DB Kind of Two GMT introduces a functional dual-time display with two distinct faces.
Developed entirely in De Bethune’s manufacture in L’Auberson, Switzerland, the watch’s movement is designed to maintain precise hand alignment regardless of the selected dial. The contemporary face focuses on home time, with a balance wheel at 6 o’clock, polished blued steel hands, and a jumping seconds complication. Golden and steel wheels add drama, and function of course. The now iconic deltoid bridge – shaped like an isosceles triangle – balances the entire composition.
The GMT face follows De Bethune’s traditional design language, featuring a hand-guilloché central motif inspired by the DB8 and DB10 models, along with a mirrored steel jumping seconds hand.
The case is made from zirconium and satin-finished Grade 5 titanium, with floating lugs designed for ergonomic fit. The flipping mechanism, composed of 42 corrosion-resistant components, ensures smooth transitions between the two displays. The adjustment system is streamlined: the wearer sets home time on the contemporary face using the crown at 3 o’clock, then adjusts the second time zone through the GMT face.
With its dual display and two distinct personalities, one contemporary, the other classic, it epitomizes the harmonious balance between tradition and modernity, just as Swizz Beatz merges musical styles to create something entirely unique.
With only ten units available, the DB Kind of Two GMT is a limited release that focuses on precision and functionality, combining De Bethune’s engineering with Swizz Beatz’s design vision.
