Montblanc presents SS26 collections in Milan with a cinematic tribute to writing & travel

Wes Anderson’s short film “Let’s Write” shapes the visual tone of Montblanc’s Milan showroom.

In Milan, during a week when design takes center stage, Montblanc presented its Spring/Summer 2026 collections at the Salone dei Tessuti showroom. The presentation offered a calm but deliberate reflection on the brand’s core themes—writing, travel, and design, interpreted through a space influenced by the cinematic world of Wes Anderson.

Thoughtfully arranged and visually precise, the showroom drew from Montblanc’s new campaign Let’s Write, a short film directed by Mr. Anderson, where storytelling, symmetry, and creative departure came together.

The entrance of the space was developed in collaboration with Edinas Paper, Ermes Ponti, and Montblanc’s Retail Design team, each contributing to the overall narrative. Ponti created a dedicated section that displayed original tools, sketches, and materials used in Montblanc’s bespoke desk-making process. Paper highlighted the brand’s connection to writing and design through printed materials from the campaign and gave visitors a custom 3D postcard to take home.

Montblanc’s Spring/Summer 2026 leather goods collection introduced new shapes and updated versions of existing pieces. A soft-construction briefcase, a crossbody bag with a belt detail that wraps into the shoulder strap, and a vertical-zipped Companion backpack were among the season’s notable additions. These designs were created to balance functionality with visual clarity. The colour palette, influenced by the campaign film, paired earthy tones with sharp citrus shades. Materials included suede calfskin, printed denim, corteccia with a sfumato effect, and various types of grain leather.

The Envelope collection continued to evolve with a new backpack, a half-moon crossbody, and a tote, all shaped by the geometry of folded letters. Nib-inspired straps and handles remained a consistent design element across the line. Meanwhile, the 4810 pattern, introduced recently by the brand, was reinterpreted in printed denim, giving a more relaxed character to soft totes, pouches, and small leather items like passport holders. These updates remained rooted in Montblanc’s visual identity while introducing new combinations of material and form.

The Art of the Desk line focused on writing as a practice and a space. Artistic Director Marco Tomasetta’s designs included refillable notebook holders meant to be closed with a writing instrument, pen pouches with nib-shaped closures, and writing coffrets in corteccia, saffiano, and grain leather. Colours such as velvet green, saffron, and tangerine were used to add seasonal contrast, while the construction and purpose of each item pointed back to the brand’s writing heritage.

In travel, Montblanc debuted a new line made from lightweight, water-repellent nylon gabardine. The selection included weekenders, garment bags, and toiletry cases, all finished with soft leather details. The #MY4810 trolley returned in navy with ebony accents, and a velvet green corteccia leather option introduced more texture to the collection’s signature travel piece.

The Spring/Summer 2026 Leather Goods and Art of the Desk collections will release in three phases, from January to April 2026, through Montblanc boutiques and online platforms. While the presentation leaned on storytelling and aesthetic cues, the products themselves remained grounded, focused on function, movement, and materials. For a brand built on the culture of writing, these collections quietly extend that narrative, not by reinventing it, but by continuing it with a sense of clarity.
