Louis Vuitton is marking the 20th anniversary of its collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami by releasing the third and final chapter of its re-edition collection. The launch arrives alongside the brand’s 2025 Resort collection and brings back one of Mr. Murakami’s most recognisable motifs, the smiling Cherry icon, as the focus of a wide-ranging summer-ready release.
The Louis Vuitton X Murakami collaboration has been a defining moment in fashion since it first began in the early 2000s. Over the past year, the House has been re-releasing key pieces from this original partnership in updated forms. After the success of the first two chapters, the final chapter is now arriving with more than 70 pieces and a new campaign featuring actress Zendaya.
The collection includes a wide range of items, from handbags, luggage, and summer footwear to silk squares, bag charms, and even a bicycle. At the centre of it all is Mr. Murakami’s Cherry icon, featuring two smiling, candy-coloured cherries on a green stalk. The motif has been recreated using multi-step serigraphy and other advanced application techniques. It also appears in playful details, such as Cherry-shaped heels on raffia mules.
A new Monogram colorway has been introduced alongside the classic brown canvas. The crisp white base works as a clean backdrop for a 3D-printing effect that makes the Cherry motif look glossier and more vibrant. This update can be seen on popular Louis Vuitton silhouettes like the Speedy, Alma, and Side Trunk.
The Capucines range features Cherry elements as well, including metallic cherries on decorative chains and smaller details hidden on zip pulls and fasteners. A limited denim capsule has also been added, with pieces like the Pochette Accessoires, the Sunset, and the Keepall 45 featuring embroidered cherries. Other items in this capsule include a summer hand fan and a folding deck chair.
The footwear selection continues the theme with Monogram denim Cherries on the Romy ballerina and the Maya platform sandals. There are also Cherry-embroidered white sneakers and versions of the Bom Dia mules and sandals. Two new styles, the Cherie and the Lily, feature a 3D Cherry heel, one in raffia with a Monogram bow and the other in embroidered denim.
Accessories complete the release. Silk squares with Cherry patterns can be worn in multiple ways and add a light touch for summer. Bag charms with Cherry shapes are designed to bring a fun, functional twist to everyday accessories.
The visual campaign starring House Ambassador Zendaya presents the collection in a series of images shot by the famed Inez and Vinoodh. The campaign is set against cinematic summer scenes from the Mediterranean Riviera, featuring oversized Cherry graphics and pieces from the new collection styled on the Louis Vuitton ambassador.
The third chapter not only closes the re-edition series but also highlights the lasting cultural relevance of the original collaboration. Over two decades, the Louis Vuitton × Murakami collaboration has crossed creative boundaries, cultural lines, and generations. With this final release, it continues to connect global audiences while celebrating the timeless energy of one of fashion’s most unforgettable partnerships.
