Aman enters Bahamas with Amancaya, spread across two secluded Exuma islands

Investor and sportswoman Dona Bertarelli is partnering with Aman for the project.

Aman is adding a new destination to its growing list of quiet getaways—this time in The Bahamas. The luxury hospitality brand has announced Amancaya, a resort and residence development set across two private islands in Exuma, known for their clear waters and white-sand beaches.

This marks Aman’s first project in the Bahamas and its third in the Caribbean, joining Amanera in the Dominican Republic and Amanyara in Turks and Caicos. Amancaya will include a 36-pavilion hotel and a limited number of branded residences, all designed with Aman’s focus on privacy, simplicity, and low-density spaces.

The property is being developed in partnership with Swiss investor, sailor and philanthropist Dona Bertarelli and investment firm Squircle Capital. Along with the hotel and residences, the project will include a marina, Beach Club, Aman Spa, and multiple dining spaces across the two cays.

Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO of Aman Group, said, “The introduction of Aman into The Bahamas is a significant milestone for our brand, which has already achieved much success in the Caribbean. As one of the most coveted locations in the destination, Aman guests have long requested our presence there. Through our collaboration with Dona Bertarelli, we have found an unrivalled setting for exclusivity and natural beauty, and I’m delighted to introduce the Aman lifestyle—from unparalleled service, privacy and transformative experiences—to The Bahamas.”

The name Amancaya comes from the Taino language and translates to “peaceful island,” reflecting the aim of the project. Ms. Bertarelli, who has a personal connection to the Exumas, said, “Aman is a purpose-driven company globally renowned for its timeless elegance and bespoke experiences. I’m delighted to have found a partner to thoughtfully bring this vision to life in an exceptional location. Guests of Amancaya will be able to enjoy the same sense of discovery and personal connection with the local community and culture that I have been able to experience in Exuma, all while immersed in its unmatched natural beauty.”

Aman has also shared its plans to build Amancaya with sustainability in mind, aligning the project with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and aiming for LEED certification, a global standard for responsible construction and design.

The resort is currently under construction, with no official opening date announced yet.
