Newly opened Fairmont Mumbai has debuted The Hedonist, a bar inspired by the 1920s

Art curation by Venu Juneja draws from jazz legends and early Hindi cinema influences.

Fairmont, the global luxury hotel brand under Accor, recently opened its first property in Mumbai—marking its debut in India’s financial capital. And now it has launched its new destination bar, The Hedonist, inspired by the glamour of the 1920s.

This new space isn’t just about cocktails and good music. It’s a layered experience designed for those who appreciate culture, detail, and atmosphere. From its live jazz to the glow of brass accents, The Hedonist reimagines the old-world charm of Art Deco lounges through a modern lens. Located on the western edge of Mumbai, the bar sets a new tone for how the city drinks, listens, and celebrates.

Designed by P49 Deesign, the venue reflects a world built for the curious and the well-travelled. Plush leather seating, dark wood panels, and golden lights draw you in, but it’s the storytelling that holds you there.

Piyush Sidral, Bar Manager, said, “With The Hedonist, we wanted to create more than just a bar—we envisioned an experience that brings together artistry, storytelling, and sensory discovery. Every element, from our cocktails to the ambiance, is designed to transport guests into a world where indulgence meets imagination.”

The art curation by Venu Juneja ties together early Hindi cinema and global jazz references. Vintage record players have been reimagined as sculptural floral forms, coloured in copper, gold, graphite, and obsidian tones. References to personalities like jazz musician Anthony Gonzalez help anchor the space in a specific time and emotion while maintaining a contemporary edge.

The cocktail program is central to The Hedonist’s identity. It’s not just a list of drinks—it’s a collection of stories. Crafted by skilled mixologists, the drinks feature rare ingredients from around the world. Notable cocktails include Waking Up in Hokkaido, a fresh and bright mix of Haku Vodka, sake, and coconut water inspired by Japan’s melon markets, and Truffle Hunter, which combines Malfy Gin, Aperol, and truffle butter to capture the delicate richness of Piemonte in autumn.

To go with the drinks, the bar presents small plates that fuse Indian and worldwide flavors. Featured dishes include Avial 2.0, a modern version of the South Indian classic, and Pioppino, Panelle—chickpea fritters paired with mushroom mousse.

The Martini Hour Ritual sets The Hedonist apart. As the cocktail cart rolls across the floor, it turns a regular drink service into something personal and intentional. Guests can choose between dry or espresso martinis, made just the way they like them. The bartenders handle each step, from chilling the glass to adding botanicals, with careful attention.

There’s a hidden cigar room behind the main bar area, a quiet, speakeasy-style space where guests can enjoy fine cigars in a relaxed setting.

Sound design plays a significant role in the overall experience. The venue is equipped with a state-of-the-art audio system that carries the pulse of live jazz and eclectic global rhythms throughout the evening. The music is not overpowering but present enough to create mood and movement, adding emotional depth to the space.
