Planning a proposal

Think & Plan

One thing you will need to work out is how to do, where to do, and what to do. Before everything gets overwhelming, or muddled in your already mushy brain, write everything down. That way you can make sure nothing has been left off the list. Make sure your other half can’t find or see this list otherwise the surprise will be ruined! The proposal sets the tone for the rest of your life, so make sure you plan it well!

Grab The Ring

An important part of any proposal is the ring. Without the ring, while you can still ask the question, it just won’t be the same. You may not know your other half’s ring size, if this is the case, then you could take an existing ring to the jewelers so you get the right size. Make sure you know the type of ring they would like, as everyone has their likes and dislikes. The last thing you want is to propose with a ring they don’t like. Head out and shop around for engagement rings. This could be done together or on your own.

Planning a proposal

Capture It

Why not capture the moment you propose by hiring a professional photographer? They can come out to your chosen location and take as many pictures or videos as you want. Check out local photographers or ask around for recommendations. It is always nice to capture the moment of pure surprise and love on camera.

Head Abroad

There is no nicer way to propose than on holiday with your girlfriend/boyfriend. If you have planned this together then think of when and where you could do it. Sunset beach proposals are a popular option. If you are heading on a city break to London or New York, then how about on one of the famous landmarks instead?

Make A Speech

You may have seen in movies that people get down on one knee and make a speech to their other half. As cliché as it is, it is cute, sweet, and awfully romantic. A speech will go a long way when you are waiting for your response to the big question. It doesn’t have to be a long speech, just state how you feel and why you have decided to propose.
