A magnificent merge of French allure and modern designs makes Louis Vuitton’s Women’s Fall Winter 2023 collection. Designer Nicholas Ghesquière flawlessly blurred the lines between fashion and art, yet again. The collection is a nod to the brand’s origin and Mr. Ghesquière’s creative vision.
The collection – presented at Paris’ Musée d’Orsay – explores the enigma of French style. “An evolutive fashion, like the palimpsest of multiple currents from all over, in which couture conventions embrace an astonishing mix of cultures to become what is known as the French exception,” says the official statement from LV.
Mr. Ghesquière, moving forward with his Star Wars-inspired aesthetic, stretches to create an intriguing line which merges with quintessential French fashion – thus creating a new visual language altogether. Introducing a fresh interpretation of French style, the silhouettes are sharp and precise, breathing a quiet luxury.
The color palette is neutral with pops of ink blue and red. Dramatic shoulders, knee-slit pants, sporty bags, and ankle boots with ‘handles’ accent the collection.
Artist Philippe Parreno and production designer James Chinlund mark the scene with a concept based on sound illusions conceived by Nicholas Becker. Gracious geometric lines, a Parisian street, and a curated sound experience brought Paris to life. A futuristic black setup in the middle of an otherwise iconic European lounge sets the tone of dichotomy. The French mystery intensified as the models appeared against the dark backdrop.
The star-studded event was attended by the house’s ambassador Deepika Padukone, its new men’s creative director Pharell Williams, Emma Stone, Alicia Vikander, Princess Olympia of Greece, Zendaya and others.
