Spanning an impressive 35,000 sq. ft, and spread over six floors, the Hyderabad store seamlessly blends Ms. Khan’s signature aesthetic with innovation, creating an immersive and luxurious shopping experience.

“After 14 incredible years of crafting story-rich interiors, I found my true calling two years ago—to create something exceptional. With an amazing team of gladiators, I am thrilled to unveil The Charcoal Project, Hyderabad! This space is a celebration of design at its finest—featuring unique works, limited-edition furniture, objects of curiosity, and a curated collection of fine art by talented artists. We can’t wait to welcome you into this world of creativity,” Ms. Khan said.

Adding to the opening, Ms. Khan also collaborated Gauri Khan, interior designer and the better half of Shahrukh Khan, for a dedicated floor showcasing products from her eponymous label – Gauri Khan Designs. While Gauri Khan is recognised for her fusion of contemporary elegance and traditional Indian elements, Sussanne offers architecturally inspired and story-driven concepts.

The collection from Gauri Khan Designs features exclusive furniture pieces, limited-edition collections, fine art, and curated objects of curiosity. Mirrors double as art with sculpted frames in rich, golden wood; and living room and bedroom sets upholstered in elegant hues.

Adding to the occasion, The Charcoal Project is also showcasing the exclusive Sussanne Khan x Janavi collection. Jyotika Jhalani of Janavi, a cashmere brand, mentions, “Sussanne Khan x Janavi is a collaboration that transcends decor—it is an expression of lifestyle, wherein the craft brings depth, texture, and story into the spaces we call home.”

This collection blends nature’s wonders with refined textiles, intricate craftsmanship, and regal aesthetics. Designed to evoke luxury, the collection’s rich hues of crimson, blue, and green bring a deeper connection to nature and comfort, where past techniques meet contemporary design.

Another notable addition to The Charcoal Project Hyderabad is its collaboration with de Gournay, known for its exquisite hand-painted wallcoverings. de Gournay’s ‘River Scenes of Bengal’ is a standout installation, alongside designs like ‘Rousseau,’ ‘Amazonia,’ and ‘Chichester,’ all of which evoke breathtaking narratives through intricate, hand-painted artistry.

The store has been divided to offer different ‘looks’. The fourth floor, for example, called ‘The Botanist’s Conservatory’, is a modern depiction of a library and a drawing room made specially for a botanist. ‘The Labyrinth’ on second floor is a set of puzzling paths and passages, to find your way through, as you browse through limited edition gallery furniture and art pieces.
