Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has introduced the Black Badge Spectre in India, marking a significant moment for the ultra-luxury manufacturer with the arrival of the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever built. Now available at the brand’s Chennai and New Delhi showrooms, the all-electric super coupé enters the Indian market with a power output of 485 kW (659 hp) and a torque of 1,075 Nm, figures that place it at the top of the marque’s performance history.
The development of Black Badge Spectre was shaped by actual driving data, shared anonymously by Black Badge clients over hundreds of thousands of miles. The data revealed that drivers preferred accessing maximum power in brief, intense bursts rather than sustained periods. This insight led engineers to introduce two new performance features—Infinity Mode and Spirited Mode.
Infinity Mode, activated by pressing a dedicated button on the steering wheel, instantly delivers the car’s full power with a sharper throttle response and vivid dial animations. Spirited Mode builds on this by temporarily amplifying torque when both brake and throttle are engaged from a standstill, triggering a haptic and visual cue before launching the car forward with intense acceleration. The inspiration for these modes comes from the past—specifically, the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine used in aircraft like the Supermarine Spitfire, where pilots could tap into bursts of additional power mid-flight.
To match the vehicle’s dramatic shift in capability, the chassis has also been recalibrated. Engineers have increased steering weight, refined roll stabilisation, and added enhanced dampers to improve control during acceleration, deceleration, and cornering. These changes make it possible for drivers to experience a greater sense of connection with the road while maintaining the brand’s signature Magic Carpet Ride. The result is a more responsive and commanding Rolls-Royce, one that invites its driver to lean into the power, rather than simply glide past it.
The design of the Black Badge Spectre complements this performance-first attitude. It debuts in a striking new Vapour Violet finish—a deep black-violet tone inspired by the neon energy of ‘80s and ‘90s nightlife—paired with a painted Iced Black bonnet that highlights the car’s sharp proportions.
Rolls-Royce clients can choose from a library of over 44,000 exterior colour options, or work directly with the Bespoke team to develop a hue unique to them. A newly introduced ‘waft’ coachline runs along the lower body, adding emphasis to the car’s length and stance. The 23-inch forged aluminium wheels, available in all-black or part-polished finishes, carry the complex geometry and visual weight one would expect from a Black Badge model.
True to the subversive tone of the series, all exterior brightwork—including the Pantheon Grille surround, Spirit of Ecstasy, double ‘R’ badges, and window and bumper accents—is rendered in a signature dark finish.
Inside, Rolls-Royce has pushed its exploration of light and texture further. A new Illuminated Grille backplate—available in Tailored Purple, Charles Blue, Chartreuse, and Forge Yellow—lets clients add even more personality to the front of the car. That same energy flows inside with Illuminated Black Badge Tread Plates available in ten colourways.
The dashboard fascia now features an advanced illuminated design made of over 5,500 tiny stars that reinterpret the Spirit of Ecstasy in abstract form, now integrated with the Black Badge Infinity symbol. Framing this design is a Technical Fibre surface made from carbon, fine metal threads, and black Bolivar wood, laid out in a diamond weave pattern. After layering, sealing, and hand-finishing, the result is a surface that feels dynamic and almost architectural.
The rebellious spirit continues throughout the cabin. The Black Badge Infinity emblem is stitched into the Waterfall between the rear seats. Clients can customise the digital instrument dials in five different colour themes—Vivid Grellow, Neon Nights, Cyan Fire, Ultraviolet, and Synth Wave, to create visual harmony between the digital and physical interior elements. These displays are managed through the SPIRIT digital platform, which also enables remote functions like charging status, vehicle location, and access to Whispers, the marque’s private digital members club.
Long before this car was officially shown, Rolls-Royce clients had already asked for it. So, in a discreet move, the company created a covert fleet of Black Badge Spectres and delivered them to a select group of owners under strict confidentiality. Their overwhelmingly positive feedback gave Rolls-Royce confidence that they had met expectations, not just in power and performance, but in attitude and identity.
Black Badge Spectre is now open for orders in India, with prices starting from ₹9.5 crore, depending on individual specification. Every unit will be shaped by its owner through the Bespoke programme, meaning no two cars will be alike. This isn’t just another launch—it’s a turning point that merges modern electric performance with a raw, more assertive character, tailored for a new generation of clients who don’t wait for permission to stand out.
