H&M teams up with iconic Indian designer Anamika Khanna for a stunning second collaboration

This new H&M X Anamika Khanna collection has a summery, painterly vibe.

Personified through multi-colored floral and geometric motifs expressed in flowing silhouettes and luxurious fabrics, H&M is all set to join hands with fashion mastermind Anamika Khanna. It’s the brand’s second collaboration with an Indian fashion designer after Sabyasachi in 2021.

The collection celebrates the designer’s signature eclecticism and flair by merging glamour and craftsmanship with contemporary tailoring and luxurious loungewear. Ms. Khanna has always put forth the best and unimaginable, and an H&M collab is just a masterstroke.

Indian elements, eclectically presented for the international audience, are beautifully showcased in a striking, floor-length kaftan. It features a rich mustard yellow base adorned with intricate, multi-colored floral and geometric motifs. Detailed embroidery around the neckline and the vibrant patterns cascade down the dress while the flowing silhouette and luxurious fabric give the dress an air of elegance.

Another look from the collection features eclectic prints and bold patterns. This ensemble is a patchwork of intricate designs, blending vibrant colors with abstract and floral motifs. The jacket is slightly oversized, with sharp lapels that give it a modern edge, while the intricate prints add a touch of bohemian elegance.

Ms. Khanna noted, “I’ve always felt Indian fashion gets lost when interpreted by the rest of the world. Often, our fashion — in terms of the culture, the heritage of craft and textile embroideries — is regarded as costume or not wearable or modern enough. Things have changed a lot, and this collection with H&M allows me to take something Indian and make it global and contemporary.”

The pieces are characterized by eclectic prints, bold patterns, and luxurious fabrics that celebrate both feminine and masculine elements with sustainability in mind. Another look showcases a complex mix of geometric and traditional motifs, creating a visually striking pattern that draws from India’s rich textile heritage. The gathered detail at the waist of the ensemble adds shape to the flowy fabric, ensuring a flattering fit while maintaining a sense of effortless ease.

“Anamika designs clothes to encourage the wearer to express themselves. The silhouettes are fluid and draped, often in a way that can be personalized. The prints are also intriguing. She integrates many fully printed looks, combining traditional color elements with something more graphic,” Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor at H&M explained.
