MB&F’s latest limited edition is reserved for the Silicon Valley

Capped at 18 pieces, the timepieces will be available at Stephen Silver.

MB&F’s LM Perpetual EVO line has been redefining how luxury watches accompany active lifestyles since its debut in 2020. Designed for modern-day adventurers, these timepieces not only have an impeccable craftsmanship, but also the freedom to never leave your watch behind, no matter where life takes you.

MB&F LM Perpetual EVO Silicon Valley

In the past, the LM Perpetual EVO has seen three limited zirconium editions, followed by a titanium model flaunting a striking green CVD dial-plate, and then a sophisticated ice-blue version. Now, MB&F is turning heads again with the release of an 18K rose gold edition featuring an ocean-blue dial plate.

Limited to just 18 pieces, this exquisite timepiece commemorates the opening of the MB&F LAB in Silicon Valley, in collaboration with luxury retailer Stephen Silver. Each edition is equipped with a snugly fitted, integrated rubber strap, offering a comfortable wearing experience.

The LM Perpetual EVO boasts 80m of water resistance, achieved through a screw-down crown with a débrayage mechanism. This feature disengages the winding stem when the crown is tightened, preventing over-winding of the mainspring. Furthermore, the EVO introduces the FlexRing, an annular dampener made from a single block of stainless steel.

This innovative component provides shock protection along both vertical and lateral axes, enhancing the durability of the perpetual calendar. By combining robustness with classic elegance, the EVO redefines this traditionally delicate complication, making it both practical and resilient.

When Stephen McDonnell set out to reinvent the perpetual calendar for MB&F, he reimagined the entire mechanical framework of the complication. The LM Perpetual features a groundbreaking “mechanical processor” composed of superimposed disks. By default, it sets each month to 28 days—the minimum every month contains—and adds the necessary extra days based on the specific month. This innovation guarantees precise date alignment, eliminating the risk of incorrect date jumps.

The mechanical processor, using a planetary cam, allows for quick setting of the year, automatically adjusting for the four-year leap year cycle. In contrast, traditional perpetual calendars require users to manually scroll through up to 47 months to set the correct month and year. Furthermore, the processor features an inbuilt safety mechanism that disconnects the quick-set pushers during the date change, preventing any potential damage while the date is transitioning.

In 2015, the Legacy Machine Perpetual introduced the world’s longest balance wheel pinion, connecting the hovering balance to the escapement at the back of the engine. This remarkable engineering achievement has since been featured in other MB&F pieces, including the Legacy Machine Split Escapement.

In both design and function, the Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO embodies the evolution of MB&F’s vision.
