Dom Pérignon, under the visionary guidance of Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon, continues its timeless pursuit of harmony, transforming nature’s finest raw materials into unparalleled expressions of art and taste. In a groundbreaking collaboration, the iconic champagne house joins forces with renowned artist Mathias Bengtsson, whose innovative approach bridges the gap between nature and cutting-edge technology.
Mr. Bengtsson introduces a bio-mimicry process that “grows” sculptures from digital seeds, each imbued with a unique DNA that mimics the natural growth patterns of vines under unpredictable weather conditions. This process breathes life into his creations. The resulting sculptures, brought to life by skilled artisans, are more than art, as they show life-like vines that extend to cover the magnums sinuously, delicately.
Crafted in an exclusive run of just 60 pieces, the Gold edition showcases Dom Pérignon Vintage 1999 Plénitude 2, a champagne that was born from a year of unexpected weather which ultimately culminated in a healthy, plentiful harvest. The body resonates with umami, and the middle palate is surprisingly and deeply fruity. A tactile finish has saline, toasted notes.
Meanwhile, the Pink Gold version, limited to only 20 pieces, encases Dom Pérignon Vintage 2000 Plénitude 2 Rosé, representing a new chapter in the art of pink champagne creation. It came from a stressful year punctuated by cold and rainy periods, followed by hot and stormy interludes, but the beautiful summer provided rich fruit. While the nose is both warm and cool, on the palate, consistency and integrated balance give way to a supple and round mouthfeel. In a surprise twist, the finish tightens and then slackens, sappy and acidic.
This collaboration is a testament to the creative dialogue between tradition and innovation, celebrating the intricate beauty of nature while charting a bold path forward.
