It’s hard to believe, but the novel innovative watchmaker, MB&F, is two decades old! And the festivities begin with the release of two exclusive limited editions, each limited to just 20 pieces: LM Perpetual Longhorn and LM Sequential Flyback Longhorn.
These remarkable creations stand out with stainless steel cases, rhodium-plated base plates, glossy black lacquer dials, blued hands, and elongated lugs—affectionately referred to as “horns”—from which they derive their name.
The Longhorn concept has quite the story. It first took shape back in 2009 during the design phase of the LM1, MB&F’s debut Legacy Machine. The idea of longer lugs—nicknamed “horns”—looked visually striking but posed a tricky challenge of whether the spring bars be positioned close to the case or at the tip of the lug? Depending on wrist size, the fit could be less than ideal. Ultimately, the long horns were swapped out for shorter ones, and the idea was shelved—or so it seemed.
Fast forward to 2021, the 10th anniversary of the LM1. Although the series had officially closed, one prototype remained to commemorate the milestone. To make this piece truly special, the long horn idea resurfaced, but this time with a twist, the lugs were drilled with two holes, one near the case and another at the tip allowing the wearer to choose.

This one-off piece, crafted in stainless steel, featured a bold twist on the classic Legacy Machine look, swapping white sub-dials for glossy black ones set against a rhodium-plated base plate.
The piece was auctioned for charity by Phillips, fetching CHF 277,200. The remarkable feedback sparked the question—should the long horns and inverted color scheme make a comeback? In 2025, the answer is clear. The Longhorn returns with a bang for MB&F’s two anniversary editions!
The first limited edition, the LM Perpetual Longhorn, features MB&F’s award-winning perpetual calendar, originally introduced in 2015. Designed in collaboration with independent watchmaker Stephen McDonnell, this groundbreaking 581-component movement redefines the traditional perpetual calendar. It eliminates common issues like skipped dates and jammed gears with an innovative “mechanical processor” that automatically deactivates the adjuster pushers during calendar changes, making it far more reliable and user-friendly.

For this anniversary edition of just 20 pieces, Mr. McDonnell’s intricate in-house movement gets a striking makeover with elongated lugs and a bold black, silver, and blue color scheme.
The second release, the LM Sequential Flyback Longhorn, is an evolution of the LM Sequential, which won the prestigious GPHG Aiguille d’Or in 2022. Also developed by Mr. McDonnell, the LM Sequential was first introduced as the LM Sequential EVO, MB&F’s first-ever chronograph and 20th caliber. Boasting technical breakthroughs and the unique “Twinverter” binary switch, it offers an array of timing modes, including independent, split-second, cumulative, and lap-timer functions.
The Sequential version takes things further by adding a flyback feature to its impressive capabilities. With long horns, glossy black sub-dials, and blued hands, this limited edition of 20 pieces is a dazzling tribute to MB&F’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
The impressive watches are priced at CHF 168,000 + VAT (each).
