Guillaume Henry’s latest collection for Patou is an ode to dynamic, confident women who command the streets from day to night. Unveiled beneath the skylight of the Palais de Tokyo, the collection pulses with bold contrasts as black, red, and white dominate the runway in a seamless fusion of elegance and edge.
Patou’s vision is clear. Women on the move need a wardrobe that keeps up. Hands tucked into pockets, models stride forward in high-shine boots, exuding power.
Chain-link necklaces, gilded buttons, and metallic fastenings bring an industrial-chic touch, juxtaposed against the softness of wool and the sleekness of glossy faux leather. Sheer floral motifs sculpt the bust and legs, adding sensuality to the strong silhouettes.
The collection’s defining elements lie in its balance of structure and fluidity. Wide belts cinch waists, emblazoned with the Patou logo, reinforcing a sense of identity.
Outerwear steals the spotlight. Coats, trench coats, and bomber jackets are designed for women in a hurry, effortlessly layering over both playful mini-skirts and sweeping evening gowns.
Flared necklines frame the face, while the longer gowns shimmer like the city lights, just like how Paris looks after dark.
Mindy Kaling, Katie Holmes, Zooey Deschanel and Kelly Rutherford were in attendance. Speaking of the Patou woman, Mr. Guillaume, said, “I just wanted visual effects without a story. This is a woman who passes you by and you catch her – or not. You’re the one telling the story, not me.”
He further added, “When you see the city from the window of a car, there’s always these streaks of light that come through. I want that woman to be followed by the light and for the light to watch to catch her.”
Mr. Guillaume’s designs embrace urban energy, drawing inspiration from the streets themselves. Patou’s latest offering is a statement, proving that power and elegance are always in motion.
