Christian Louboutin & Maison Margiela dazzle with yet another divine collection

Both the brands’ mutual admiration and shared artistic vision come to life in this collection.

Expanding on their January 2024 collaboration, the two fashion powerhouses, Maison Margiela and Christian Louboutin, are debuting their first-ever capsule shoe collection on March 12, 2025. And it’s going to be glorious from all accounts!

Maison Margiela X Christian Louboutin

This partnership, conceived as part of Maison Margiela’s 2024 Artisanal collection, presented in January 2024, brings together the distinct design philosophies of John Galliano and Christian Louboutin. The result is two interwoven capsules, Maison Margiela by Christian Louboutin and Christian Louboutin by Maison Margiela, each offering a fresh interpretation of their respective brand identities.

The Bridiela Una Strass

The Maison Margiela by Christian Louboutin line reimagines the Maison’s iconic Tabi shoe through Louboutin’s lens of femininity and sensuality. The collaboration introduces a new version of the split-toe silhouette, crafted not by cutting into the toe cap but by assembling two distinct pieces, forming a shape reminiscent of a woman’s décolleté. Painted with Louboutin’s signature red sole, these three designs merge Margiela’s avant-garde approach with Louboutin’s expertise in crafting sultry, high-fashion footwear.

The first is Bridiela Una Strass which is a bridal-inspired pump with a new sculpted last, perched on a classic 100mm Christian Louboutin heel. Made from mesh and adorned with handmade crystal embellishments, it mirrors the refined detailing of the Maison Margiela 2024 Artisanal collection. The color palette includes black, silver, and Christian Louboutin’s signature blush.

The Marlougiela (flat)

Loubiella is a sleek sandal based on Louboutin’s Rosalie silhouette, featuring a 100mm stiletto heel. Designed to enhance the natural arch of the foot, its asymmetrical strap elegantly twists around the ankle. Available in black soft patent leather and platinum-textured leather with a frosted finish, the design echoes the weathered aesthetic of Margiela’s recent couture collection.

Marlougiela is a modern take on the ballerina shoes, elongated and sculpted for a more dramatic look. This style is available in black or deep red soft patent leather, as well as mesh variations in black, blush, and silver, with strass embellishments for added flair.

The Bilougiela

The other part of the collaboration, Christian Louboutin by Maison Margiela, re-frames the seductive silhouettes of Christian Louboutin through the inverted and subversive lens of the Maison. The collection applies Maison Margiela’s decortiqué technique, an approach that strips designs down to their skeletal structures, revealing hidden construction elements. This artistic treatment transforms Louboutin’s classic forms into raw, avant-garde statements.

The Martinloula

The first of the four striking designs is Bilougiela 25 which is an elongated, pointed ankle-strap sandal crafted from Louboutin’s Kate Max last, set on a towering 100mm heel. The decortiqué technique is used to peel back the black patent leather, exposing the inner framework of the shoe.

The Xrismarteen

The next highlight is the Martinloula. It’s a pointed pump featuring Louboutin’s faux-cul heel cap, originally designed for Margiela’s 2024 Artisanal collection. The Xrismarteen is a knee-length boot that expands on the Martinloula’s deconstructed aesthetic. The black leather upper appears as though it has been stripped away, leaving behind cascading strips that expose the lining. This effect mimics Margiela’s hacking technique, which simulates torn paper.

The Martoubi

Martoubi 25 is a pointed white leather pump, set on a 100mm heel. Executed in white leather, the heel cap is daubed in a spontaneous red brushstroke. The detail echoes the Maison’s bianchetto technique, the white overpaint that exposes the trace and soul of time and evokes the smear of red nail varnish, alluding to the story of the Red Sole.

This new collection cements the ongoing dialogue between haute couture and avant-garde craftsmanship.
