Indian design brand Anavila has expanded into homeware with a new line, ‘House & Home.’ The debut collection embraces mindful living while celebrating indigenous Indian craftsmanship.
Designer Anavila Misra had a unique philosophy in mind for this new line. At the heart of this philosophy is the belief that life’s essentials, the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the homes we live in—should not be driven by excess but by necessity.
The first edition of the House & Home series embraces this philosophy, drawing inspiration from the Birhor people of Jharkhand. This indigenous community exemplifies a way of life that is both authentic and deeply in tune with nature. For them, the forest is not just a resource, but a home—an ecosystem that sustains and nurtures.
Thoughtfully designed table linens complement fresh, locally sourced ingredients, while bed linens provide comfort and rest. An earthy, balanced color palette of earthy browns, denim blue and pops of forest green fosters tranquility, creating a space that encourages stillness and reflection.
“As a civilization, we are rediscovering a deeper purpose, realising that a slower, more intentional way of life preserves traditions, crafts, and communities. The first edition of our House & Home series embraces this mindfulness, drawing inspiration from the Birhor people of the forest, whose connection to the land is their way of life. Birhor, an indigenous tribe from Jharkhand, embodies authenticity, warmth, and an intimate bond with nature,” the brand statement said.
Overconsumption has disrupted the natural rhythm, stripping the earth of its resources faster than it can recover. Yet, as awareness grows, more people are embracing a lifestyle that honors sustainability, simplicity, and heritage. This Home line collection reflects this very same philosophy.
